Suitably rigged out in my Boot Sale Challenge sweatshirt, I appeared on the show with my good friend
John Mee. We felt at ease being on ' home territory ' Chelford being a regular haunt most weekends for both of us !!
A good time was had by all, it was nice to meet Ted Robbins ...comedian/actor and broadcaster, along with Steve the resident
expert. The crew were brilliant, very attentive and the wacky Alexis ... a tonic !!!
Well the camera's rolled and John and myself went into our familiar bargain and barter mode. We
had £50 to spend ... and did we spend !! Then Steve the expert would assess and value our buys. The winner being the
team with the most potential profit.
After two sweeps of Chelford our £50 was spent to the penny, items bought....
Large Radio late 1930's
Bakelite Ekco Radio 1950's
Art Deco Fireguard
1950's Fireguard
Samovar/Tea Urn
Candlesticks
1950's retro Plastic Waste Bin
Assorted Meccano
Table top Mangle 1950's
Three framed prints
Electronic early computer game
Mr Magic Game
Our booty was put on display along with our opposition the Blue Team's selection.
The tension mounted and the result was finally announced, Blue Team's items valued at £62 a profit
of £12 ..... Red Team's Value £73 a profit of £23 .... !!!
WE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!! A great day was had by all and we even managed to sell on the large
radio ( not bakelite ) to a hovering dealer, and we split the spoils. I've added the small but very powerful Ekco Radio to
my collection, it's in very good working order. The Tea Urn/Samovar adorns my kitchen as a momento of our appearance
and my daughter has claimed the retro 50's waste bin for her bedroom !!!
